This Valentine's day might be different to most of us, as we in most places of the world, can not do the usual things we are so used to. But that is not a problem at all, because you do not need to go to a fancy restaurant or to a concert to have a romantic evening with your better half! Romance hides in the simple and beautiful things of life, like long evening-walks, gazing at each other's eyes, compliments, late breakfasts in bed, and so on. We all have a different preference for romance, some of us prefer buckets of flowers and balloons, others would give anything for something hand-made with your lover's hands... What I am trying to say is that there is no right or wrong, just what you like the most. Knowing your partner's likes and remembering details is another excellent way to show your affection, and it can be used for your date evening. I have selected many Valentine's date ideas that can be used both for this occasion and any day you would like to do something special. These romantic date ideas will adapt to different budgets and activity lovers, so let's dive into the romance world!
Have A Virtual Getaway
There are two ways of doing this date. One of them is to plan an actual dream holiday you want to have in the future, researching the places you want to visit, the hotel you want to stay, and checking the budget needed for your dream trip.
Another way of creating this date is setting up your place, like the country you want to visit, such as Italy! Cook/order Italian food, get white/red table cloth, get Italian wine, gelato for the dessert. Listen to Italian music, watch an Italian movie or even have a virtual museum tour as an example.
Have An Adventure
Depending on the weather in your country, you can have a great date by biking, hiking, skiing, staking and so on, and if you pick some food with you, you can have a lovely picnic afterward.
Start a new tradition
Valentine's day or anniversary is a great time to start a new tradition for both of you. It can be anything that you would love to repeat every year, such as a selfie of your kiss, on every Valentine's day from which you can make a collage after many years. Having an indoor/outdoor picking on the day, writing each other a letter of things you loved to do together in the last year, take turns in arranging a secret surprise for the occasion.
Have A Board Game Date
Get a nice game you both would like and enjoy your time together while playing it. I would not recommend playing Monopoly or a game that would require 'harming' your opponent as it might not be the most romantic idea for Valentine's day, but there are plenty of friendly games like Five Tribes, Ticket To Ride, Carcassonne, which will bring you a great time and no stress!
It doesn't matter if you do not have a singer's voice, you can have a great time singing your beloved songs with your partner. If you can play some instrument, it is an even greater date night!
Have An Indoor Picnic
It is a sweet but straightforward date idea that does not require much preparation! Prepare/order some food, get your loved drinks, lay down on the blanket and chat, watch something you both would enjoy.
Recreate Your First Date
Go to the place where you first met, and follow the scenario of your first meeting. It might also revive your first kiss moment!
Cook A New Dish
Pick a delicate recipe of something you both never cooked before, and have a go! You will have a great time making it together and a lovely meal afterward.
It might have been a long time since you last danced together, and it is time to change it! Just pick your favourite tracks and let the music lead you both. Also, you can learn some new dances or moves using Youtube tutorials.
Travel Back In Time
Pick the drinks you like and go down memory lane! Look into your pictures, videos, albums from the past. Enjoy the moments you had and remember the fun and crazy events you lived together.
Painting Night with a glass of wine sounds like an enjoyable Valentine's date! Get a couple of canvas and paint, check the video tutorial of the particular thing you want to paint, and try. You will explore something unusual together and have a lot of fun and relaxation while doing it. Later if you like, you even can hang your art as a symbol of your date!
Write Love Letters
The letter is one of the most romantic things, which gets less and less appreciated these days. You both can write love letters to each other before Valentine's day or on the spot. Most important, write something from your heart, compliment your partner, tell something nice from the depth of your heart.
Bake A Cake Together
If you love cakes as much as I do, this will be one of the best ideas for your Valentine's date! Pick a delicious looking cake, get ingredients and have a fantastic time in the kitchen while baking and decorating it. Afterward, you will have a great dessert to culminate your date night!
Read A Romance Novel
If you are book lovers, it is a great date night for you! Pick the book both of you like the most and read to each other chapter by chapter.
Dine At The Candlelight
Turn off all the lights and gadgets and move back in time while having your evening in the dim and romantic candlelight. It would bring a romantic mood and help you to focus your attention on each other.
I believe that these date ideas gave you something to think about, and you might choose something to have a unique and romantic Valentine's date! While I was writing these ideas, I came up with plenty more, but I think it will be a great idea to share them with you some other time. It doesn't matter which activities you will choose, the most important you will have a valuable time with your second half.
Love and be loved, Happy Valentine's Day!
